Sleek & Slim Sony Ericsson T700 Unveiled!

Sony Ericsson ’s latest handset — Sony Ericsson T700 unveiled at last. We can’t sat that we ‘re greatly surprised though as photos of this device leaked several times in this last past month.

It comes with a moderate amount of on-board features and — pretty fortunate — an affordable price tag. So this new bar-shaped T700 is hugely expected to impress with looks and price point rather than with functionality.

Featured Specs

This T700 comes with quad-band GSM support and single-band 3G support with HSDPA. A 3.2 megapixel snapper is also around, with no autofocus, unfortunately. It also packs a 2-inch 262K color display with QVGA resolution. Bluetooth with A2DP, USB connectivity and up to 25MB of user memory. An M2 card slot provided to expand that amount and a 512MB memory card included in its retail package. An FM radio with RDS completes the SE T700 features list.

Dimension & Weight

Measuring 104 x 48 x 10 mm and weighing only 78 g the Sony Ericsson T700 is even more compact than its predecessor - the Sony Ericsson T650.

It’s gonna hit the shelves in Q4 of the year at less than 200 euro estimated retail price. The available color versions are Black on Silver, Black on Red and Shining Silver.

The upcoming Philips Xenium X800 has already passed the FCC and is nearing its launch, though it might have come a little too late to the full-touchscreen-devices-party. Overall, its features are pretty decent, but the lack of 3G, Wi-Fi and even EDGE connectivity is a deal breaker for most users, might be fatal with the Samsung Omnia, iPhone 3G and HTC Touch Diamond all offering similar and in many cases better specs.

On the good side, there’s a 2.9-inch 262K color TFT touchscreen display with a resolution 240 x 400 pixels, 2 megapixel camera with auto-focus, Bluetooth, microSD memory slot, an office documents reader, and a 1250 mAh battery, which promises to deliver up to 850 hours of standby and up to 8 hours of talk time.

We are yet to see when the Philips Xenium X800 will hit the market and at what price but the initial impressions it leaves are all quite positive.

A head-to-head match of the HTC Touch Diamond versus the Samsung i900 Omnia. Both phones manhandled for an extended time and broke down the UI, hardware, features and overall usability.

PhoneArena team just published their preview of the upcoming Sony Ericsson C905 with the great 8 megapixel snapper on its back.

Sony Ericsson C905 employs quite a few innovations product of the company. It is the first slider from the Cyber-shot series and the first non-smartphone equipped with WiFi. Aside from the DLNA support, which for example, lets you view wirelessly the pictures from the phone on the TV. The top model is equipped with GPS, to make orientation easier.

Sony Ericsson C905’s design really reminds us of the pocket digital cameras. Even though it is a slider, that is hard to notice it since the phone creates the impression that it is one whole. Its size and weight definitely make it unfit for the “compact” class, but that can be expected from a phone pretending to offer such functionality.

Nokia is finally taking form factor much more seriously: at the new size 112mm high - 57mm wide - 10mm thick, the Nokia E71 is actually one of the slimmest Nokia phones to date and remarkably compact phone given it’s feature load and form factor. It’s a huge improvement. Nokia claims the Nokia E71 is the thinnest QWERTY smartphone on the market, to feature Wi-Fi or a built-in GPS receiver and powered by a good 1500 mAh battery.

The Nokia N96 is the latest in Nokia’s N-series line up. It has the familiar dual slide design from the Nokia N95, but this is a TV and video focussed mobile device. As such it is not a replacement for the N95, although it does share many of its attributes and features and is, of course, a very high-end handset.

As has been widely generalised, the Nokia N82 is effectively an Nokia N95 in a candy-bar form factor, with Xenon flash, four times the free RAM and auto-rotating display. All the basics are otherwise the same - the 5 megapixel camera, the GPS, the VGA video recording, the software package, TV out.

The recently announced Nokia N82 is an impressively specified device. With a 5 megapixel camera, integrated GPS, S60 software suite and WiFi, Bluetooth and 3.5G connectivity it boasts a feature set to match the flagship Nokia N95 8GB. However, the Nokia N82 has a greater focus on its camera, thanks to its Xenon flash.
