One of the head designers of high-end mobile devices and pocket PC — Horace Luke — gives us a review on the HTC Touch Diamond.
We can see the good looking of the Touch Diamond, with the extraordinary back-shape and hard-glass front cover which increase the resistance to scratches and pressure. Constructed with a metal frame inside the body, giving the 11.5mm thin body an uncompromised strength. Under the display, we’ll see the touch-sensitive D-pad, which only need a swipe of a finger to operate. Zoom images or website pages would be as easy as swiping your finger around the D-pad clockwise or anti clockwise.
As far as we know, HTC always pack and release their devices in attractive yet luxurious packaging. And for HTC Touch Diamond, they’ve made a very interesting shape package — an inverted pyramid with some relief graphics on it — and it succesfully impress everyone. If any of you guys wondering about the pretty desk stand that recently surfaced on the web, unfortunately it won’t be packed along with the Touch Diamond in the retail box. The desk stand will be sold separately. No specific words from HTC about the other accessories, such as larger battery or the leather-holster.
Another interesting part of the HTC Touch Diamond is the magnetic stylus, and i think it’s the first one ever. Sounds cool, huh? In addition, if you pull out the stylus when the Touch Diamond is in standy mode, the phone will automatically activate and ready for any commands. Or if it pulled during a call, it will automatically open the Notepad and this make us easier to make a note right away.
HTC has put alot of efforts and hardwork in developing Touch Diamond’s software alone – called the TouchFLO 3D, that being said to be a ground-breaking feature in win-mo devices field. The TouchFLO home-screen displayed a huge clock (some people like it, believe me), while the music-tab offered us a very nice visual and easy to use. The HTC Touch Diamond support for USB connection as a removable drive, easier for us to upload our files to the device as simple as copy-paste.
