HTC has announced its new Touch Diamond today at a press event in London. The new touchscreen smartphone features the latest update of HTC Touch 3D interface (codenamed HTC Manila), designed to make Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional more finger-friendly, which was also showcased officially for the first time today. The highlight of the new HTC Touch 3D user interface will be the web capabilities - smart desktop-like rendering and superb touch navigation through web pages and hyperlinks.

The HTC Touch Diamond features a large 2.8″ touchscreen display in a thin 11.5mm (.4″) package. Tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900MHz) and dual-band WCDMA (900/2100MHz) offer full connectivity, and WiFi allows you to use the Touch Diamond at your favorite HotSpot. There’s a built-in GPS receiver, as well. It has a built-in accelerometer which allows screen auto rotation - another feature that should have been on-board a long time ago.
The HTC Touch Diamond will run on a Qualcomm MSM7201A 528 MHz processor and will have 192MB DDR SDRAM. A 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and video capture is on board, alongside a front-facing VGA-resolution camera for video calling, where supported. The HTC Touch Diamond features a whopping 4GB of internal storage, and there is no removable storage available. FM radio with RDS, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR enables the use of Bluetooth headsets, as well as file transfer, and the miniUSB port doubles as an audio jack.

The HTC Touch Diamond is planned to be available throughout Europe in June, with more regions to follow. Pricing information was not yet released.
