The newest additions in Samsung’s full touch phones lineup – Samsung S5600 and Samsung 5230, are officially announced today. Though they’re both equipped with large touchscreen displays and runing on the lattest TouchWiz UI, they’re only packed with midrange feature sets.
Word is these phones are the direct competitor for LG Cookie, aimed at the style but budget concious users with its slim and compact design.
So what do we have here..? The Samsung S5600, 12.9 mm thin (not bad..), a 2.8″ 16M TFT touchscreen display (240×320 pixels resolution), built-in accelerometer, 3.2 MP camera – LED flash – and smile detection, Bluetooth v2.1 (with A2DP offcourse), on board USB v2.0, MicroSD card slot, HSDPA support, but where’s the Wi-Fi ?
And now the Samsung 5230, let’s see, 11.9 mm thin (nice..), a 3″ 256K TFT touchscreen display (240×400 pixels resolution), accelerometer sensor, 3.2 MP camera, Bluetooth, USB, microSD card slot. No 3G / HSDPA support and no Wi-Fi.
Oh, you might wanna hear about the Gesture lock feature on these phones. This feature enables us to unlock the phone and open a menu item simultaneously, just by drawing an alphabet letter on the screen. Cool, huh ? We can assign various actions to any alphabet letters from a to z.
The Samsung 5230 is expected to hit the market in April 2009, while the S5600 in May 2009. Still no info on pricing on both phones.
