The Nokia 5320 XpressMusic is a 3G/HSDPA-enabled bar shaped smartphone. Being a music-oriented device, the Nokia 5320 offers dedicated external music controls, stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), a stereo FM radio and a 3.5mm standard audio jack. Nokia say that there is also a dedicated audio chip for better audio quality (which otherwise is a traditional weakness in Nokia phones).
Inside and there is the promise of 24-hours of playback from one charge and A microSD memory card slot allows you to plug a memory card of up to 8GB in capacity (a 512MB or 1GB card is included in the retail package) keeping it in line with Sony Ericsson and Apple offerings (this is supposed to be budget/affordable after all).
A new music feature is the “Nokia Say and Play” application, a voice-controlled feature, the idea is that you can say the artist that you want to play and then the phone springs into action playing the first track of the spoken band.
Beside music, mobile gaming is also in the focus with the Nokia 5320 XpressMusic. The 8-way navigational D-pad is optimized for the purpose and beside that you also get a landscape gaming experience on the 2-inch 16M color TFT display with QVGA resolution. These are said to “deliver a true gaming experience” meaning that as promised Nokia has expanded the N-Gage platform’s availability beyond its Nseries range.
A 2 megapixel snapper (no auto focus) and a microUSB connectivity port add to the feature list. Support for a number of online services will also come preinstalled - Macromedia Flash Lite 3.0, Windows Live, Flickr, Yahoo Go!, and Yahoo Messenger are all in. There is also a SMS reader which does text-to-speech conversion for you.
The Nokia 5320 XpressMusic will be available black/blue or black/red as previous Xpress Music handsets and it’s supposed to start shipping in Q3 2008 for around 220 euro before taxes and subsidies.
