The first GPS oriented phone, Garmin-Asus Nuvifone G60, that was promised to be launched in Q3 2008 and Q1 2009, is now delayed again. And now its planned to launch in the third quarter of this year. Let refresh our memory about this phone. Packed with a huge 3.55″ touchscreen display and an optimized touch-based interface, a 3.2 MP camera, bluetooth and wi-fi connectivity, and ofcourse a full navigation suite. The phone run a linux-based operating system, and not using a popular smartphone OS like the other, unfortunately. This phone make another appearance at the MWC 2009 as a prototype, last february. And it looks good.
So why its delayed again? Garmin said that they’re building this phone from scratch, ground up – hardware and software, and though we’re not one of their engineers, we can easily imagine how tough the process in building this phone. And maybe, it has something to do with the global financial crisis too.
Well anyway, i personally hope that it will successfully released on schedule this time.
